BYBERRY STATE
 Can you smell the fear?
Slick copper throat // vomit, shit
& the heeling human harnesses,
bloodstained; blood loss
weight loss & infections,
ASHES ON OUR TONGUES
IN OUR BEDS
These bodies are the urns
on mattress shelving;
I
delve
into the floors and walls
tall monsters choke the halls,
big bruisers like the clots in arteries—
These stories,
like the shrieking of POSSESSION
in a church.
BLOOD SOAKS ME, and they crash in;
Inhuman footsteps, heavy
like the boots of armies;
I am swaddled in the sin of screaming—   do you believe,
do you believe in ghosts
(I wish you would believe me)
It is LOUD, NOISES
VOICES
and the only choices
reek of blood
I smell of sweat
& urine
and I bite
and spit
and kick
and it’s a fight, a war
(PLEASE JUST LET ME DIE TONIGHT)
I fall; crash;
the bandages are tight, too tight,
and my ribs constrict
I am SCARED
I am TAUNTED
I am WOUNDED
but the nurses give me shots and pills
and the doctors call me sick

Not that I feel like anyone reads journals anymore-at least too often that is.
I've been working on a bit of non-art related stuff, and a "few" photographic things. A short run down of how the last bits of 2016 went for me:
I left the internship.
I finished EMT school.
I moved across the country again.
I presented a solo exhibition of work I did back in university, at the house where the images were made.
I reconnected with lots of old friends. I lost some friends.
I acquired another 8x10 view camera, this time a mono-rail type.
I left a shitty job.

All in all I feel like it was a pretty busy last part of the year, and I'm happy to be back where I can work on stuff, and be near the people that mean the most to me... as well as being back with old friends from art-school, talking like the elitist fuckers we are.

Effie Gay Trahan
One of the last portrait I took on 8x10 film. I'm very pleased that I captured the grace, and poise that my grandmother has. After raising a family, and caring for my grandfather for so many years, I'm more proud of what my grandparents built up in a small town on the Texas coast.

Brother of Mine
This is my youngest brother, I haven't seen him in a while. He's been quite sick, and as a result will be starting University in the Fall. He's only 16 years old, but may be the most intelligent 16 year old I know. He is driven, talented; for example, he wanted to learn how to black-smith, so he built a forge in the garage and started making things.

This photograph was taken when he was about to turn 15.
