Not that I feel like anyone reads journals anymore-at least too often that is.
I've been working on a bit of non-art related stuff, and a "few" photographic things. A short run down of how the last bits of 2016 went for me:
I left the internship.
I finished EMT school.
I moved across the country again.
I presented a solo exhibition of work I did back in university, at the house where the images were made.
I reconnected with lots of old friends. I lost some friends.
I acquired another 8x10 view camera, this time a mono-rail type.
I left a shitty job.

All in all I feel like it was a pretty busy last part of the year, and I'm happy to be back where I can work on stuff, and be near the people that mean the most to me... as well as being back with old friends from art-school, talking like the elitist fuckers we are.

One of the last portrait I took on 8x10 film. I'm very pleased that I captured the grace, and poise that my grandmother has. After raising a family, and caring for my grandfather for so many years, I'm more proud of what my grandparents built up in a small town on the Texas coast.

Brother of Mine
This is my youngest brother, I haven't seen him in a while. He's been quite sick, and as a result will be starting University in the Fall. He's only 16 years old, but may be the most intelligent 16 year old I know. He is driven, talented; for example, he wanted to learn how to black-smith, so he built a forge in the garage and started making things.

This photograph was taken when he was about to turn 15.

Well, I got my first internship... (I think?) I mean, I thought that we'd shake hands or something, but yeah! I'm going to be interning at a darkroom/studio space for photographers and I quote: "creatives" <- I'm not really a fan of that word, but hey... it's the art world, within two-thousand miles of the west-coast. Anyway, I get access to a working darkroom that I'll be able to develop/print my 8x10 film so I'm super happy about that. But, let me be 100% clear on this, it's a business first and foremost.

\\I'm working on researching/building a semi mobile wet-plate thing, just have to get some supplies, and an ice fishing tent....

Also I've acquired a new domain for my portfolio: www.gabrielsellers.pw so that happened...

I've been reading a tonne of articles on this site: dsq-sds.org/index
It's a disabilities studies journal based in Canada, oh Canada. I have to admit that it is validating, but I don't want to use those pretty words that make me feel like I can blame something. Words like Saneism, or institutional bias, but oh my god it feels right. I don't want to use them not because I don't identify or feel that it's accurate or true, but because everyone tells me that those words mean nothing. So I'll just stay inside this bubble of validation, and not try to let people see it.
